Discover thirteen British Goddesses
worshipped in pre-Roman Britain,
create rituals, and journey through meditation for your spiritual development and growth

Susie Fox

I have written Ritual Journeys with Great British Goddesses to answer the question that I and many other others ask: Who are the British Goddesses that can be worshipped in the 21st Century?

There is a desire and a hunger in the 21st century to connect with the Divine Feminine.  When we explore the concept of The Goddess or Divine Feminine, we find Goddesses from all over the world presented through  mythology, stories, meditations, oracle sets, tarot cards and illustrations that enable us to connect to feminine spirituality. But for those of us who have British roots or an interest in Britain’s indigenous spirituality there is a dearth of information, and the Goddesses that are presented are few.

I have researched British Goddesses who
were worshipped in Britain prior to the invasion of the Romans.  They have been discovered through archaeological finds, or documented by Roman inscriptions.

Those who are already interested in Goddess worship can explore the Goddesses in Ritual Journeys with Great BritishGoddesses knowing that they have ancient British roots and are indigenous to the British Isles.

The book started with a question, and to answer that question, I have travelled to different places in Britain  where traces of the Goddesses can be found.  I have climbed Ingleborough and lingered by Scalebar Foss.  I have walked in the Wye Valley dreaming about Elen of the Ways.  I have discovered ancient stone circles in Derbyshire and Cornwall, and felt the mysterious energy within them.  I have spent time in Buxton admiring the architecture and wondering where Arnemetia's Sacred Grove would have been situated.  Then I drank the water from St Anne's Spring. I found Coventina's well and spent time by the water, then offered a crystal moonstone as a thank you.

There have been many adventures as I have sought the Spirit of the Goddess. I visited the Roman Baths Museum in the City of Bath, then went to the modern Thermae Spa for a luxurious bathe in the mineral waters. In the evening I swam in the open air roof top pool, relaxing in warm water while snow sprinkled down and the stars shone. Magic!

Each journey has been a pilgrimage. I have travelled the land in search of spiritual and historical places, but I have also journeyed within myself, developing my own understanding of the Divine and answering my question as I did so.

I hope that those of you who read Ritual Journeys with Great British Goddesses will be encouraged to ask your own questions, enjoy Britain's amazing landscape, and create your own pilgrimages and find your own answers.  The journey is just beginning...
